Seat Ateca Gasoline Engine Power Loss

I'm really starting to get frustrated. I have a 2020 Seat Ateca with a gasoline engine and about 171509 km on the clock. Lately, I've noticed a significant reduction in engine power and a jerking sensation when accelerating. Plus, there's some smoke coming out when I put my foot down. I checked the error memory, and there's a stored error, although I don't know what it means. Could this be detonation related to deposits in the combustion chamber, or is it something else entirely? Could it be the knock sensor? I am completely lost and unsure where to start!

That sounds quite similar to what I experienced with my Ateca. Did you notice any unusual sounds, like knocking, especially when the engine was under load?

Yes, I do hear a distinct knocking sound, especially when accelerating uphill. Could this be related to what you experienced? Was it also caused by deposits in the combustion chamber? I'm just trying to figure out if this is a common thing.

Yes, the knocking sound is a classic symptom. It's likely detonation due to those pesky deposits. Honestly, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They'll probably clean the combustion chamber and might need to do some engine tuning to adjust the ignition timing.

Thanks for sharing your experience! It sounds like I need to get it checked by a professional. I took your advice and went to the workshop. They found significant deposits in the combustion chamber. After cleaning and some engine tuning, especially adjusting the ignition timing, the issue is resolved. It cost me 425€, but at least my Ateca runs smoothly again!
