Seat Ateca massage seat problem

Seriously annoyed right now! The massage seat function in my 2022 Seat Ateca with a Gasoline engine has stopped working. The seat switch just doesn't do anything. It's a real pain, especially since I do a lot of driving. Plus, there's an error stored in the error memory according to the diagnostics. The garage thinks it's likely a defective cable or plug connection. They quoted me 95€, which seems steep. Has anyone else experienced this? It seems ridiculous that a luxury car feature would break so soon!

That's a bummer, especially on a newer car! I've seen similar issues with seat switches, though not specifically on an Ateca. Is it just the massage function, or are other seat controls affected? Have you checked the fuses? Sometimes it's something simple. It could also be a broken wire in the harness under the seat, those can get pinched or damaged easily. Since it's a luxury car feature, I would not be surprised if the car upholstery is part of the issue. Is the error memory storing a specific code?

Thanks for the quick reply! It's only the massage function, everything else works perfectly. I did check the fuses, all seem fine. I haven't looked at the wiring harness yet, I'll try that. You mentioned a specific code – where would I find that, and what am I looking for? A broken wire in the harness under the seat sounds like a plausible cause, I will check that tomorrow. Do you know if the seat switch is easy to remove?

Okay, if it's just the massage function and the other seat controls are fine, and you've checked the fuses, then yeah, a broken wire or a faulty connector under the seat is the most likely culprit. As for the error code, you'd need an OBD2 scanner to read it, something like a Foxwell or a VCDS. That would give you more specific information. Honestly, messing with the seat switch and wiring could be tricky, especially with the car upholstery. It's probably best to let the garage handle it if they've already diagnosed it and quoted you 95€. That sounds like a fair price to me, I would just get it done.

Just wanted to let you know. The local garage confirmed a faulty connection, like you thought. The bill was 98€, a bit more than the quote but still reasonable. Thanks for the help!
