Seat Ateca Oil Temperature Sensor Issue

I haven't had a chance to check the wiring myself yet. Where exactly is the oil temperature sensor located? And how can I check the connection without special tools?

Okay, so you haven't checked the wiring. Fair enough. Honestly, finding the exact location without a manual can be a pain, as it varies. But, given the error code and the symptoms, I'd say it's highly probable that you have a defective connection. You could try wiggling the connector gently to see if the readings change, but honestly? If you're not comfortable doing electrical checks, and you already have a diagnosis pointing to the sensor or its wiring, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. 95€ is a small price to pay for peace of mind and proper repair, especially considering potential engine damage if the oil temperature readings are wrong.

Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation. It all makes sense now. I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – faulty connection on the oil temperature sensor. 95€ later and it's all sorted. Appreciate the help!

Oil temperature and pressure lights illuminating together on an Ateca? That's not ideal. The fact that there's an error stored in the memory is definitely a good starting point. A defective cable or plug connection for the oil temperature sensor sounds plausible, especially with those symptoms. Have you checked the basics, like visually inspecting the wiring and connector for any obvious damage or corrosion? Does the engine temperature gauge read correctly, or is that acting up too? Because if the engine temperature is fine, it really points towards the oil temperature sensor being the culprit, or at least the wiring to it.
