Seat Ateca Overheating Issue

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, the temperature gauge goes up really fast. I haven't checked the fan blade or fan motor closely yet, but I didn't notice the radiator fan running when the engine was overheating. Where exactly is the temperature control unit located? Is it difficult to check that myself?

Yep, those symptoms sound exactly like what I experienced. I wouldn't recommend messing with the temperature control unit yourself unless you really know what you're doing. You could cause more damage. Honestly, with those symptoms and your suspicion of a defective radiator fan, it's best to get it to a workshop. It could be a faulty speed sensor causing the radiator fan not to kick in when it should, leading to the overheating. It's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to engine cooling and temperature control!

Just wanted to say I took your advice and brought my Ateca to the workshop. They confirmed it was the speed sensor, and the radiator fan was indeed defective. 250€ later, and the engine cooling system is working perfectly! Thanks a lot for your help!

Overheating on an Ateca, eh? Sounds familiar! Does the temperature gauge climb really quickly, especially in traffic? And the check engine light, is it on constantly? I had a similar issue with my Ateca, and it turned out to be related to the radiator fan. Have you checked if the fan blade spins freely or if the fan motor is making strange noises? Sometimes a faulty temperature control unit can also cause these symptoms. Is the fan running at all?
