Seat Ateca Oxygen Sensor Issue

My 2020 Seat Ateca Diesel with 159084 km is showing a check engine light and an oxygen sensor error. Fuel consumption has also increased. I suspect the sensor is bad, maybe a cable or plug issue. Has anyone experienced similar exhaust sensor or system problems? This air-fuel ratio stuff is a real maintenance headache.

This sounds like a classic oxygen sensor problem. I had similar issues with my Ateca, although I can't remember the exact year. Have you checked the sensor's wiring and connector for damage or corrosion?

Good idea. I gave it a quick once-over, but it looked fine. Could it be a subtle break in the cable that I missed? Where was the fault on your car?

In my case, it wasn't obvious. There was a hairline fracture in the wire near the connector, hard to see without close inspection. Considering the symptoms and error code, a workshop diagnostic might be a good idea.

Just to close the loop, the workshop visit revealed a faulty connection to the oxygen sensor, as suspected. The repair set me back 95€. Thanks for the guidance!
