Seat Ateca power steering fault

I am experiencing a fault with the power steering on my 2016 Seat Ateca, gasoline engine, with 70580 km. The steering wheel vibrates and shakes, and the handling feels spongy. An error is stored in the error memory, and increased effort is required when steering, as the power steering may have failed completely. A defective cable or plug connection of the component is suspected.

That sounds unsettling. I have a Seat Ateca as well, though I cannot recall the exact year of manufacture. I experienced similar symptoms about a year ago. The steering wheel would vibrate, and the handling felt quite spongy. Have you checked the hydraulic fluid level?

Thank you for your response. Did you also receive an error message and did the issue resolve itself after topping up the hydraulic fluid?

No, the fluid level was normal. The error message persisted, and the symptoms remained constant. It did not resolve itself. I advise you to consult a workshop at your earliest convenience. It may be a similar issue with the steering column or the power steering itself.

I appreciate the information. It proved to be a defective plug connection in the steering system. Repair cost was 95€.
