Seat Ateca problems again and again the starter does not work

Hello everyone, I have problems with my Seat Ateca (diesel, year of manufacture 2019). Symptoms are longer cold start times, the engine sometimes not starting at all, strange engine noises, low battery when starting, flickering lights and a warning light in the speedometer. I suspect it could be due to the "engine may not start". Has anyone had similar experiences and what was the cause? How did you get the problem solved in the workshop? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello everyone, I had a similar problem with my Seat Leon (diesel, year of manufacture 2017). I would describe my experience with cars as "a bit", so I've done a few things myself, but I'm not a professional. In my case, the battery weakened when starting and the lights flickered. After an appointment at the garage, it turned out that the cause was a fault in the vehicle's electrical system. Fortunately, the garage repaired the fault free of charge, as it was an unresolved fault that was covered by the warranty. Perhaps you could give us some more information about your vehicle, e.g. how often the problem occurs and whether you have ever had the fault memory read out? Then I might be able to help you more specifically. Best wishes and good luck,

Hey, I had similar problems with my 2019 Ateca Diesel with 176543 km. In my case, the battery was ultimately ruined and had to be replaced. The starter motor was also checked because sometimes it wouldn't pull through. The flickering lights and strange noises were probably due to a faulty alternator, which also had to be replaced. Have you had the fault memory read out? This will usually give you a good indication of where the problem lies. Sometimes there are simply different components that interact and cause the symptoms. Hope this helps you! Best regards,

Hey, unfortunately sounds very familiar! I also had similar problems with my 2019 Seat Ateca Diesel. I had the longer cold starts, the engine not starting, flickering lights and that warning light in the speedometer. In my case, it was a combination of the battery and alternator. The garage told me that the battery was faulty and had to be replaced. The alternator was also checked and ultimately replaced because it was simply no longer supplying enough power. Of course, I also had the fault memory read out, which was really helpful. This enabled me to narrow down the possible causes. If you haven't already done this, I would recommend that you start. I can only advise you to have it checked quickly, because problems like this can often add up to something bigger. All the best and I hope you get it resolved quickly! Best regards,

Hey, thanks for your reply and the tips! Seems like the battery and alternator are also candidates for the problems with my Ateca. I haven't had the fault memory read out yet, but that sounds like a good starting point. Will raise this with the garage and hope it can then be resolved quickly. Thanks again for your help and for sharing your experiences! Regards,

Hello, Good afternoon, I am having a problem with my 2019 Seat Ateca (Excellence TDI), as the engine diagnostic light constantly comes on (more or less, every 1,000 kms). When I go to the official Seat workshop, I am informed that it is a problem with the particulate filter (it clogs easily, but they did not recommend changing the particulate filter, as the filter is in good condition). They clean the particulate filter each time I go to the workshop and explained that the vehicle does not perform regeneration and asked me to check that the engine speed is not above 1,000 before turning off the engine. But the truth is that even with this care, the engine light always comes back on. What could it be? How can I solve this situation? Thank you.

Try taking your car for a longer drive on the highway at higher speeds, which can help the particulate filter regenerate properly. This process requires the engine to reach a certain temperature and speed to burn off the soot. If the problem persists, it might be worth having the sensors related to the particulate filter checked, as they could be faulty and not allowing proper regeneration. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!
