Seat Ateca sound system issues
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Seat Ateca owner experienced a complete failure of the sound system, with error messages and speaker crackle, suspecting a defective display. A similar issue in another car model suggested the display unit might be the cause. After visiting a workshop, it was confirmed that the display unit was faulty, and replacing it resolved the sound system issues.

Bluetooth was definitely dodgy, kept dropping the connection. Did you ever get a proper diagnosis on your Astra, or did you just trade it in?

Yeah, Bluetooth crapped out completely in the end. Never traded it, kept repairing it. Eventually the dealer said it was likely a faulty display unit causing all sorts of issues with the sound system. They said it was a known issue on some models of Astra. I'd get it checked at the workshop.

Took the Ateca to the workshop, and you were spot on. They confirmed the display unit was faulty. Had it replaced, cost a bomb at 725€, but the sound system is finally working again. Thanks for the heads-up!

Whoa, sounds familiar! Had a similar pain with my old Vauxhall Astra. The sound system went haywire, complete with speaker crackle and random static noise. Was your Bluetooth acting up too?
