Interesting. So, if I understand correctly, the OBD2 thingy messed up the readiness check? Did you have to do anything special to fix it? I'm not too keen on taking it to a garage if I can avoid it.

Yes, the OBD2 read is the likely culprit. Unfortunately, unlike some older fault codes, this one often requires a specific computer reset procedure to clear and allow the system readiness to complete. It could clear itself with driving, but that could take a long time. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They can perform a computer reset and ensure everything is okay with your onboard diagnostics. In my case it was a quick job, didn't even cost me anything.

Just letting you know I got it sorted. It was exactly as you said. I cleared the error myself with a computer reset, and the system readiness is now complete. No more check engine light. Thanks for the help, you saved me a trip to the mechanic and some cash.

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Ateca after using an OBD2 scanner. The 'system readiness' refers to whether your car's onboard diagnostic systems have completed all their checks. These checks are related to emissions control, making sure your exhaust system is working correctly. It's required for vehicle inspections. The OBD2 read can sometimes interrupt these checks.
