Seat Ateca Terminal Continuous Plus Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Seat Ateca with a gasoline engine and 147,188 km mileage was experiencing poor starting due to an interrupted Terminal 30 continuous plus. The initial suspicion was a heavily discharged or defective battery. After considering potential causes like charging system issues, parasitic drains, or damaged wiring, the problem was resolved by replacing the faulty battery, which restored normal function.

Thanks for the reply. When you say 'parasitic drains,' how did you track yours down? And where exactly should I be looking in the wiring harness?

Tracking down the drain was a pain. I used a multimeter to measure the current draw with the ignition off and then pulled fuses one by one to see which circuit was causing the problem. Regarding the wiring harness, pay close attention to any areas where the wires might be rubbing against the chassis or other components. Look for chafing or any signs of damage. Honestly, though, if you're not super confident with electrics, might be worth getting a workshop to take a look. Intermittent electrical faults can be a nightmare.

Cheers for the insights. Turns out the battery was goosed, as suspected. New one fitted and all seems well. Total cost was 290€ fitted. Hopefully, that's the end of it.

Terminal 30 issue, eh? Had a similar gremlin in my Ateca. Same symptoms, the car was struggling to start, especially in the cold. Check your charging system first. Are you getting the correct voltage when the engine is running? If it's charging okay, then start looking for parasitic drains. Might be worth checking for any damaged wires in the wiring harness, especially around the fuse box and the ignition switch. A dodgy circuit breaker could also be to blame, but that's less likely. Keep us posted.
