Seat Ateca Transmission Problem

I am experiencing transmission issues with my 2018 Seat Ateca, diesel engine, currently at 171477 km. The engine warning light is illuminated, and the error memory indicates a transmission oil pressure sensor fault. Furthermore, the gearbox is in emergency mode, accompanied by slippage and unclean shifts, along with grinding noises during gear changes. Could a low gearbox oil level be a potential cause?

I had similar transmission issues with my Ateca. Same symptoms, engine warning light and the gearbox went into emergency mode. Have you checked the transmission oil level? A low oil level can cause the pressure sensor to trigger a fault. Is the error stored in the error memory?

Thanks for your reply! Where exactly did you check the transmission oil level? Is it something I can do myself, or does it require special tools?

Yes, the fault code was the same. Checking the transmission oil level can be a bit tricky as it often requires specific tools and knowledge to access the fill plug correctly. Without proper equipment, you risk causing further damage. I would recommend a visit to a trusted workshop to have it checked professionally to prevent complications.

Many thanks for sharing your experience. Following your advice, I checked the oil level and it was indeed low. I took it to a workshop, where they confirmed the transmission oil pressure sensor fault, likely caused by the low oil level. Repair and oil change cost 365€. Everything is running smoothly now.
