You mentioned the pressure switch and refrigerant leak. Did your Astra exhibit similar symptoms, specifically the AC system not even attempting to engage? Was there any indication on the temperature control, or was it completely unresponsive?

Yes, the AC in my Astra wouldn't even kick on. The temperature control was essentially useless; it was just blowing ambient air. If your system isn't engaging at all, and you suspect a valve issue, it's probably best to get a professional AC diagnostics test done. Could be a refrigerant leak as well, and these are usually hard to spot without the right tools. Save yourself the headache and visit the workshop.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It appears a similar fate has befallen my Cordoba. AC diagnostics confirmed a defect within the valves, leading to a refrigerant leak. The estimated repair cost is approximately 1000€. Your input has been most helpful.

I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra a few years back. The AC stopped blowing cold air. Have you checked for any unusual AC noise or tried to see if the pressure switch is working correctly? A refrigerant leak could also be the culprit. It's like a slow puncture in a tire; the system gradually loses its ability to cool.
