Seat Cordoba brake issue

I have a 2006 Seat Cordoba with a gasoline engine. I've observed a gradual decrease in the brake fluid level. The brake pedal exhibits an unusual degree of travel and diminished resistance. Initial inspection suggests no visible external leakage. I hypothesize that the underlying cause may be attributable to worn brake components. Could anyone offer insight or guidance on this matter?

Low brake fluid and spongy brake pedal? I experienced something similar with my Cordoba. Check your brake lines for leaks, especially around the calipers. Could be a simple fix.

Thanks for the swift reply. Did you experience any unusual feedback through the brake pedal? Did the issue resolve after a simple fluid top-up, or was a more comprehensive intervention required?

Fluid top-up was temporary. Eventually, I had to go to the workshop. Could be the master cylinder or something else deeper in the brake system. Better get it checked professionally.

Understood. I appreciate your feedback. It seems my initial diagnosis was in the right ballpark. Took it to a trusted mechanic. Turns out the worn pads necessitated new rotors as well. Complete brake fluid replacement was performed. Total cost: 480€. Hydraulic brakes are now operating nominally. Thanks again.
