Seat Cordoba cold start problems

My 2000 Seat Cordoba with a gasoline engine is giving me fits! Starting has become a real chore, especially when the engine is cold. It stumbles and hesitates something fierce, and generally runs poorly until it warms up. I strongly suspect a faulty cold start injector. Has anyone experienced something similar? I'm thinking it might be a defective injection valve, messing with the fuel delivery during that crucial cold start phase.

I had a similar problem with my Cordoba, though I can't recall the exact mileage at the time. Hard starting and rough running when cold sounds very familiar. I would check the fuel delivery system. How old is your fuel filter?

The fuel filter was replaced about 20000 km ago, so I don't think that's the issue. I'm suspecting a problem with the fuel injection, specifically the cold start injector. Did your issue also involve the fuel rail, or any specific injector problems?

Yes, it does sound like we had the same issue. I messed around trying to diagnose it myself for a while, but eventually, I bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. They ran some tests and confirmed it was a faulty injector. They replaced the injector, and the problem was solved immediately.

I appreciate you confirming my suspicions! The faulty cold start injector was indeed the culprit. After an injector test, the workshop confirmed the diagnosis, and the replacement, including labor, set me back 515€. Now it runs smoothly even on the coldest mornings! Thanks for your help.
