Seat Cordoba Diesel Engine Overheating Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Seat Cordoba with a diesel engine was experiencing overheating issues, with incorrect temperature readings and a delayed engine warm-up. The suspected cause was a restricted radiator grille, potentially affecting thermal management. After investigation, it was confirmed that the problem was due to a restricted radiator grille and a defective fuse, which were resolved, restoring normal engine function.

I didn't see anything obvious blocking the radiator grille. I'm curious, what was the actual issue in your case? Was it purely a radiator blockage, or something else within the cooling system?

Yeah, mine exhibited the exact same behavior. It drove me crazy. I initially suspected the thermostat, but eventually took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was a partial radiator blockage restricting airflow, causing the cooling system to behave erratically. It might be worth getting it checked out professionally.

Thanks for the insight. It turned out to be a restricted radiator grille, a fuse was defective and the bill was 52€. All good now.

Interesting. I had a similar experience with my Cordoba. The symptoms sound very familiar. Have you checked for any obvious obstructions blocking the radiator airflow? Leaves, debris, anything like that?
