Seat Cordoba Diesel Engine Overheating Problem

My 2001 Seat Cordoba with a diesel engine is showing some unusual behavior. The instrument cluster indicates incorrect temperatures, the check engine light is on, and the engine takes a long time to warm up. Could a restricted radiator grille be the cause? I suspect a thermal management issue. I have checked the coolant level, which is fine.

Interesting. I had a similar experience with my Cordoba. The symptoms sound very familiar. Have you checked for any obvious obstructions blocking the radiator airflow? Leaves, debris, anything like that?

I didn't see anything obvious blocking the radiator grille. I'm curious, what was the actual issue in your case? Was it purely a radiator blockage, or something else within the cooling system?

Yeah, mine exhibited the exact same behavior. It drove me crazy. I initially suspected the thermostat, but eventually took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was a partial radiator blockage restricting airflow, causing the cooling system to behave erratically. It might be worth getting it checked out professionally.

Thanks for the insight. It turned out to be a restricted radiator grille, a fuse was defective and the bill was 52€. All good now.
