Seat Cordoba Diesel Overvoltage Errors
Summary of the thread
The 2001 Seat Cordoba diesel is experiencing overvoltage errors, leading to random system failures and a weak battery during startup. The suspected causes include a heavily discharged or defective battery, circuit protection activation, or alternator failure. A suggestion was made to check the voltage regulator on the alternator, but without proper equipment, a workshop visit was recommended. Ultimately, the issue was resolved by replacing the discharged battery, which cleared the electrical faults.

Interesting, I haven't checked the voltage regulator specifically. Where is that usually located, and is it something I can test myself without special equipment?

The voltage regulator is usually attached to the alternator itself. Honestly, without proper testing equipment, it's difficult to diagnose. Given the number of fault codes and electrical malfunctions, it might be best to take it to a workshop. They can properly test the alternator and car battery to pinpoint the issue.

Just a note on what happened. It was the car battery, like we suspected. It was so discharged that it caused all sorts of weird electrical issues. I had to replace it and clear the fault memory. Cost me around 290€. Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.

Overvoltage issues can be tricky. I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane. It started with random electrical failures. Have you checked the voltage regulator on your alternator? That was the problem for me.
