Seat Cordoba Diesel Overvoltage Errors

I'm getting stressed with my 2001 Seat Cordoba diesel. I'm getting overvoltage errors. The car ECU is throwing a fit, systems are failing randomly, and the car battery seems weak when starting. I suspect a heavily discharged or defective car battery, but I'm not sure. Could this also be circuit protection kicking in or alternator failure? Any thoughts?

Overvoltage issues can be tricky. I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane. It started with random electrical failures. Have you checked the voltage regulator on your alternator? That was the problem for me.

Interesting, I haven't checked the voltage regulator specifically. Where is that usually located, and is it something I can test myself without special equipment?

The voltage regulator is usually attached to the alternator itself. Honestly, without proper testing equipment, it's difficult to diagnose. Given the number of fault codes and electrical malfunctions, it might be best to take it to a workshop. They can properly test the alternator and car battery to pinpoint the issue.

Just a note on what happened. It was the car battery, like we suspected. It was so discharged that it caused all sorts of weird electrical issues. I had to replace it and clear the fault memory. Cost me around 290€. Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.
