Air intake? Control valve? Where exactly are these located, and how can I check them? Could a dirty throttle body also cause such problems? I mean, is throttle cleaning worth trying before more drastic measures?

Yes, it could definitely be related to the throttle body. The air intake and control valve are part of the throttle valve system. Honestly, I'm not too familiar with the specifics on your car. It might be best to take it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. They can check the throttle valve itself.

I'm very grateful for your help! I took the car to the workshop, and it turned out that the accelerator pedal module was defective, just like you suspected. They replaced it, and the throttle valve is working perfectly now. The repair cost me 205€. Thanks again!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Opel Astra a while back. Higher fuel consumption and poor starting were the main symptoms. Have you checked the air intake for any obstructions? Is the control valve working properly?
