Seat Cordoba engine misfire issues

Interesting about your Renault Megane! So, you mentioned sensor testing. Is there a particular way to test the camshaft sensor to see if it's truly defective? I've seen some videos online, but I'm a bit hesitant to start poking around without a bit more guidance. I suspect the encoder wheel on camshafts is the issue, but I'd like to be sure before I take it to the mechanic.

Yeah, with the Renault it was a process of elimination really, and the mechanic confirmed it. Considering the age of your Cordoba and the symptoms you're describing (poor start, stalling, check engine light), and your suspicion of the encoder wheel, it's highly likely the camshaft sensor. Honestly, unless you have access to professional diagnostic tools, you're probably best off taking it to a workshop. They can do proper sensor testing and confirm the issue for sure.

On my Seat Cordoba, it was indeed the camshaft sensor. The garage confirmed the encoder wheel on the camshafts was faulty. The whole repair, including parts and labor, came to around 695€. Ouch! But at least she's running smoothly again. Thanks so much for your help and sharing your experience!

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane, although the symptoms were a bit different. Check engine light was on, engine misfire at high RPMs and it turned out to be the crankshaft sensor. Have you considered sensor testing to pinpoint the exact cause? Maybe even look at the crankshaft sensor readings as well?
