Seat Cordoba engine stalling at idle

I have a 2002 Seat Cordoba with a gasoline engine. I'm experiencing engine stalling at idle. The check engine light is on, and the error memory indicates a problem with the idle air control valve. Could this be a simple fix, or is it something more serious?

Sounds like a classic IAC valve issue. I had similar engine stalling problems with my Cordoba. Does the car idle erratically before it stalls? Have you tried cleaning the air valve? Sometimes that helps.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you had the issue, did the check engine light come on as well? How did you eventually resolve it? Did you clean the IAC valve yourself?

Yes, the check engine light was definitely on. I tried cleaning the IAC valve myself, but it didn't completely resolve the problem. It would run better for a while, but the engine stalling would eventually return. Ultimately, I had to take it to a workshop and get the IAC valve replaced. Save yourself the headache and get a professional to have a look.

It was indeed a faulty IAC valve. The intake was also heavily contaminated, as suspected. I had it replaced, and the total cost was 425€. Thanks for the help!
