Seat Cordoba Exhaust Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Seat Cordoba with a gasoline engine exhibited issues such as louder exhaust noise, rough engine sound after a cold start, and a stored error code. The suspected cause was failing exhaust flaps. Confirmation from another individual suggested that the diagnosis was likely correct. Replacing the exhaust flap resolved the noise issue and cleared the error, restoring normal engine sound.

I'm getting a stored error, the exhaust noise is louder, and the engine sounds rougher after a cold start. I suspect the exhaust flaps. Has anyone else experienced similar exhaust noise or component failures?

Good to know I'm on the right track. Regarding engine performance, it's hard to say. Maybe a slight decrease, but nothing dramatic. Could a defective exhaust flap really affect it that much?

It was indeed the exhaust flap. Replacement cost 190€. Car sounds normal and the error is resolved. Thanks for the confirmation.

Sounds like your diagnosis is correct. Loud exhaust and error codes usually indicate the exhaust flaps are failing. Are you noticing any dip in engine performance?
