Seat Cordoba Fault Memory Lock Error

I've got a 2008 Seat Cordoba with a diesel engine and about 173000 km on the clock. I'm getting a 'Fault memory lock active' error. There's an error stored in the error memory, but I can't seem to clear it. I've read it could be undervoltage related. Has anyone experienced anything similar with their car electronics? Any advice on troubleshooting before I head to the auto repair shop?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane. Kept getting weird errors. Did you check the battery? A weak battery can cause all sorts of issues and throw up all kinds of fault codes. Could be worth a look before you dive into deeper repair.

Thanks for the tip! The battery seems okay, starts the car fine. But maybe it's not holding enough charge? How did you figure out it was the battery on your Megane? Did you have to do any diagnostics or was it obvious?

Yeah, mine started fine too, but the garage said the voltage was dropping under load. It messed with the computer system big time, throwing up all sorts of spurious fault codes. Honestly, I'd get the battery properly tested. If it's not that, then you're probably looking at a deeper dive into the car electronics. Best left to the professionals, I reckon.

Took it to the shop and they confirmed undervoltage was causing the fault memory lock. They cleared the fault codes and checked the computer system. Cost 240€, but it seems sorted. Thanks again for the help!
