Seat Cordoba gearbox slippage
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Seat Cordoba diesel with 50,675 km is experiencing gearbox slippage, suspected to be caused by defective gears in the transfer case leading to oil wear. A similar issue was resolved by addressing mechanical wear and oil leakage in the transfer case. It is recommended to have the vehicle checked at a workshop, as the problem was confirmed to be mechanical wear in the transfer case, which was successfully repaired.

Oil change history is complete, but the oil wear issue persists. You mentioned similar slippage. Was the transfer case the culprit in your situation?

Confirmed, transfer case was the issue. Exact same symptoms, oil leakage due to mechanical wear. I suggest getting it checked at a workshop. The cost will be similar if it's the transfer case.

Appreciate the insight. Diagnosis confirmed mechanical wear in the transfer case, leading to oil wear and leakage. Repair cost 330€. Resolved.

I had similar gearbox slippage issues with my Cordoba. Have you checked for any visible oil leakage around the transfer case? Oil wear can accelerate problems. Also, has the oil been changed recently? If the oil change interval has been stretched too long it could also be mechanical wear.
