Seat Cordoba knocking combustion

My 2005 Seat Cordoba with a gasoline engine, is giving me fits. It's getting knocking combustion, feels like reduced engine power, and it's jerking like crazy when I accelerate. Plus, there's smoke coming out the back when I put my foot down. I got an error code too, so I know something's up. My guess is deposits in the combustion chamber, maybe causing pre-ignition or even piston slap. Has anyone else run into this?

Sounds familiar. I had something similar with my Cordoba. Was the fuel octane you used low? Have you checked the cylinder heads?

Low octane fuel, huh? I usually fill it up with whatever's cheapest. Cylinder heads are fine as far as I know. Could those deposits really cause that much trouble? What exactly did you experience?

Combustion chamber deposits can cause all sorts of problems, especially with pre-ignition. That's what caused the error for me. Do you really want to risk damaging the engine further? I would suggest taking it to a workshop.

I took it to a shop as you suggested. You nailed it. Combustion chamber deposits were the problem. They cleaned it all up, and the car runs great now. Cost me 425€, but it was worth it. Thanks for the help!
