Thanks for the quick response! I haven't checked the wiring yet, to be honest I am not sure where to start looking for it. Can you give me some pointers on where to find the auxiliary heater and the relevant connections?

If you're not comfortable tracing the wiring yourself, I would recommend taking it to a workshop. Given the age of the car and the symptoms, it almost certainly is the glow plug as you initially suspected. Better to get it sorted professionally than potentially causing more damage. The cost you mentioned seems reasonable for the repair.

Took it to a workshop and you were right, it was the glow plug for the auxiliary heater. They replaced it and cleared the error. Cost me 440€. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like you're on the right track. A defective glow plug is a common cause for auxiliary heater problems. Have you checked the wiring and connections to the heater itself? Sometimes a loose or corroded connection can cause similar issues before you start replacing parts.
