Seat Cordoba Radio Reception Signal Issue

I am writing to seek wisdom regarding an issue I am experiencing with my 2006 Seat Cordoba with a gasoline engine. The vehicle has approximately 184311 km on the odometer. The problem manifests as a persistent radio reception signal issue. Specifically, the infotainment system displays an error message, and the audio system ceases to function altogether. Furthermore, diagnostic scans reveal an error stored in the error memory, which I suspect is related to the antenna. Based on my research, the likely cause appears to be a defective antenna. The symptoms are similar to a faulty electrical circuit, where the flow of information is disrupted, leading to a breakdown in communication. Has anyone encountered such a predicament, and could you perhaps offer guidance on potential solutions or troubleshooting steps? The estimated repair cost is around 255€.

Summary of the thread

A 2006 Seat Cordoba owner experienced persistent radio reception issues, with the infotainment system displaying an error message and the audio system ceasing to function. Diagnostic scans suggested a potential antenna problem. Another owner with a similar issue suggested that the problem might be related to the antenna ground, especially if interference increases with the use of other vehicle electronics. The solution involved taking the car to a workshop, where a defective antenna was confirmed and replaced, resolving the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I also own a Seat Cordoba and experienced something similar with the radio. Does the static noise get worse when you accelerate or use other vehicle electronics? It might be related to the antenna ground.

That is an interesting point about the acceleration and vehicle electronics influence on the static noise. I hadn't paid close attention to that detail, but now that you mention it, I believe the interference does increase when I use the windshield wipers or the lights. Could you please elaborate on the antenna ground issue?

Yes, in my case, the workshop confirmed it was a faulty antenna causing the radio interference. Given that you are experiencing similar symptoms, especially the increased static with electrical components, it's quite possible that you have the same problem. I would recommend taking it to a workshop to verify the antenna and its connections. It's the most efficient way to resolve vehicle electronics issues.

Thank you for sharing your experience; it seems that we faced a similar predicament. I heeded your advice and took my Cordoba to a trusted workshop. As suspected, the antenna was defective and causing the radio interference. They replaced it, and the error message is now gone. The audio system is working again. The total repair cost was 255€. Hopefully, this will be the end of this particular saga.
