Seat Cordoba rain light sensor fault

I have a 2002 Seat Cordoba with a gasoline engine. Recently, I've been experiencing some weird electrical issues related to what I believe is a rain-light sensor fault. The error memory is showing a fault, and I've lost the automatic wiping function when it rains. The automatic headlight control is also not working, and the speedometer dimming feature is now gone. To top it all off, the lights keep switching on seemingly at random. I've read somewhere that bubbles forming under the gel pad of the windshield might be the culprit. Any ideas?

That sounds very familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Volvo. The auto sensor was acting up in a similar fashion. I would start by checking for any visible damage or obstructions on the windshield near the sensor.

Thanks for the quick response! Did you manage to fix it yourself, or did you have to take it to a workshop? And what exactly did you check on the windshield? I'm not sure what I'm looking for.

I did not manage to fix it myself. The Volvo's issue was bubbles under the gel pad too, distorting the sensor's reading. It requires sensor calibration after replacement. Honestly, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They have the right tools and expertise to diagnose and fix the problem properly.

I took it to a local workshop, and they confirmed it was indeed the rain-light sensor. They replaced it, and after the sensor calibration, everything is working as it should. The total cost was around 62€. Thanks again for your help!
