Seat Cordoba starting issues
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Seat Cordoba with a diesel engine was experiencing starting issues, dim and flickering lights, suggesting a weak battery. The problem was suspected to be a defective battery sensor. After a mechanic's diagnosis, it was confirmed that the battery sensor was faulty, and replacing it resolved the starting and lighting issues.

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't tested the battery charge myself. How did you figure out it was the battery and not something else? Did you also have a diesel engine?

While it could be other things, given the symptoms, a faulty battery sensor is quite possible. In my case the car battery health was fine. I didn't have a diesel engine. I'd suggest getting it checked by a mechanic. They can properly diagnose the sensor and the car battery.

Thanks for the information. The shop confirmed it was a faulty battery sensor. Replacement was 315€, and now the car starts perfectly. Lights are steady too.

I had a similar issue with my Cordoba, though I have a different engine type. Weak starts and flickering lights definitely sound like a battery problem. Have you tested the battery charge? Perhaps low voltage is causing the issues.
