Seat Cordoba Windshield Wipers Not Working

I'm cheesed off. My 2008 Seat Cordoba with a diesel engine is playing up. The windshield wipers have completely stopped working. I scanned it, and it's throwing up an error about the wiper circuit. I'm thinking it's a bad connection, maybe a dodgy plug. Has anyone had this before? I'm dreading it's the wiper motor itself, or something buried deep in the steering column. Any ideas before I start ripping things apart? What could cause it? I've read that a faulty wiper blade can put stress on the motor. I'm estimating around 95€ for repairs, is that reasonable?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my Cordoba. The windshield wipers just died on me out of nowhere. Have you checked the wiper motor fuse? That was the first thing I looked at. Also, could be the stalk switch itself. Does your turn signal work okay?

Cheers for the quick reply. I did check the fuses, and they seem fine. The turn signal is working perfectly, so I don't think it's the whole stalk. Could it still be the wiper switch part of the steering column even if the turn signal is okay? Is it difficult to get to the wiper motor?

Yeah, the wiper switch is separate from the turn signal, even though they're on the same stalk. I'd bet it's a connection issue within the steering column, like you suspected. Honestly, messing with the steering column can be a pain and you need to disconnect the airbag. I'd get a workshop to take a look. Could save you a lot of hassle.

You were spot on. I took it to the garage this morning, and they found a dodgy connection in the steering column stalk. They cleaned it up, and now the windshield wipers are working perfectly again. 95€ all in. Thanks a million for the tip.
