Seat Exeo Air Suspension Problem

My 2012 Seat Exeo with a diesel engine is giving me headaches. The air suspension seems to have failed; the car won't lift. I'm getting an error message and the ride is incredibly bumpy now. Mileage is at 102336 km. The car is leaning to one side, and the error memory suggests a faulty air suspension bellows valve. Could this be the cause?

Summary of the thread

A 2012 Seat Exeo with a diesel engine is experiencing air suspension failure, resulting in the car not lifting, a bumpy ride, and leaning to one side. The error memory indicates a faulty air suspension bellows valve, which is suspected to be the cause. The conversation suggests that the valve might not be holding pressure, leading to the lean, and recommends checking the ride height sensors and possibly replacing the valve. Ultimately, the issue was confirmed to be the faulty valve, which was replaced, resolving the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

That does sound concerning. You mention the car is leaning, which points to a specific corner failing. The air suspension works a bit like a complex bicycle pump managing pressure at each wheel. If one 'valve' is faulty, it won't hold pressure, leading to the lean. Has any work been done on the suspension or shock absorber recently? Are you sure it's not just a slow leak in the air spring itself rather than the valve? Have you checked the ride height sensors?

Thanks for the quick response. No recent work on the suspension. A slow leak could be the problem too, I guess. How can I differentiate between a leak in the air spring and a faulty valve? I haven't checked the ride height sensors either, where exactly are they located?

Okay, if there's no visible damage to the air spring itself, and the system throws a valve error, it likely is the valve. Think of it like a tire valve; if it's bad, the tire goes flat even if the tire itself is fine. As for the ride height sensors, they're usually located near each wheel hub, attached to the suspension arms. However, if the error points directly to the valve, and the car is leaning, replacing the valve is the logical first step. It might be best to get it checked out by a workshop that specializes in pneumatic suspension systems.

Just got my Seat Exeo back. It was indeed the air suspension bellows valve. Cost me 590€, but the ride is back to normal. Thanks for the confirmation and advice!
