Seat Exeo automatic transmission problem

I am writing to seek assistance with an issue that has arisen in my 2009 Seat Exeo diesel. The vehicle is exhibiting symptoms indicative of a malfunction within the automatic transmission system. Specifically, the vehicle fails to start, accompanied by the illumination of the check engine light. Furthermore, the gearbox demonstrates slippage and unclean shifting patterns. Diagnostic procedures revealed an error stored in the error memory, suggestive of a defective control unit, which impacts starting the engine in P park position. Has anyone encountered a similar predicament, particularly concerning the park brake and its interplay with the transmission system? The estimated transmission repair cost is around 1000€.

I had similar symptoms on my Exeo. Check the transmission sensor; it might be faulty. Does it struggle to find neutral position as well?

Thank you for your response. You mentioned a transmission sensor. Was your check engine light also illuminated? Did you observe issues with the gear shifter besides the neutral position?

Yes, the check engine light was on. Gear shifter felt off too. If the error memory points to the control unit, it's likely the culprit. Honestly, you should take it to a workshop with experience in automatic transmissions; it's not something easily fixed at home.

I appreciate your input on this matter. It appears the control unit was indeed the source of the trouble. With transmission repair and a new control unit, I am back on the road, albeit with 1000€ lighter wallet. I am marking this thread as resolved.
