Seat Exeo Climate Control Problem

I am experiencing issues with the climate control panel in my 2009 Seat Exeo diesel. The panel is not functioning. There is an error stored in the error memory, the heating output is too low, and the air conditioning system does not switch on. From what I've researched, a likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection of the component. Any advice?

Summary of the thread

The climate control panel in a 2009 Seat Exeo diesel was not functioning, with errors indicating low heating output and a non-responsive air conditioning system. A likely cause was identified as a defective cable or plug connection. The suggested solution involved checking the wiring harness and electrical connectors, which required some disassembly of the dashboard. After taking the car to a workshop, a defective wiring harness connector was confirmed and repaired, resolving the issue.

Sounds familiar. I had similar electronic faults with the climate control on my old Renault Megane. The blower motor wouldn't kick in sometimes, and the air conditioning was intermittent. Have you checked the wiring harness and electrical connectors to the climate control panel? That's where my issue was.

Thanks for the quick reply. When you say 'wiring harness and electrical connectors', are there any specific areas I should be looking at? Are they easily accessible, or will I need to disassemble parts of the dashboard?

Yeah, in my case, it was a corroded connector on the wiring harness that plugged directly into the climate control unit behind the dash. Accessing it required removing the radio and some trim pieces. If you're not comfortable doing that, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. Diagnosing electronic faults can be tricky without the right tools. They should be able to check the continuity of the wires and ensure the connectors are clean and making good contact.

Took it to a workshop as suggested and they confirmed a defective wiring harness connector. The air conditioning is now working again and the heating output is back to normal. Total cost was 95€. Thanks for your help!
