Okay, cheers for the reply! When you say 'brake light switch connection,' do you mean physically checking the plug is secure, or is there something deeper I should be looking for? Is there a way to test it? And any idea where the cruise control gets its speed signal from? Is it a speed sensor?

While thorough diagnostics are best, your description strongly suggests a cable or plug connection issue, as you suspected. While other components, like the speed sensor, could theoretically cause this, the stored error alongside the cruise control malfunction heavily indicates the brake pedal switch or its associated wiring. A workshop visit would be beneficial for pinpointing the exact location of the defective connection.

Alright, problem solved! Turns out it was indeed a defective pedal switch connection, probably thanks to the fantastic roads around here shaking everything loose. 95€ later and my cruise control is back in action! Thanks for the confirmation. Really appreciate it!

The fact that you have an error stored points away from a simple fuse issue. Given the symptoms and the error memory indication, checking the brake light switch and its connection is a solid first step. Also, examine the wiring and plug connection for any corrosion or damage. Has the car had any recent work done that might have disturbed the wiring around the pedals or in the fuse box area?
