Regeneration? Honestly, I'm not sure. How would I even know if it was doing its thing? Is there a way to check? Because now that you mention it, it feels like the whole emission control system is messed up.

Yep, sounds like the sensor to me. If the pressure is reading too low, the ECU probably isn't triggering DPF regeneration properly, hence the smoke and reduced power. Get it checked at a workshop, and be prepared for them to suggest a new sensor. It's a pretty common DPF issue, I reckon.

Dude, massive thanks for the insight! Turns out it WAS the exhaust back pressure sensor, just like you called it. New sensor fitted and the car's running like a champ again. Cost me 245€, but totally worth it to get rid of that smoke and regain the lost power!

Low pressure on a diesel particulate filter? Sounds eerily familiar. Had similar DPF issues on my Exeo, though I was getting limp mode and the engine felt like it was choking. Was your DPF regeneration kicking in properly before this started?
