Seat Exeo Diesel Engine Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Seat Exeo diesel is experiencing jerking during acceleration, a check engine light, reduced engine power, stalling, a strong exhaust smell, and rough running. The issue is suspected to be a defective intake manifold, possibly due to scorching. A professional inspection confirmed a faulty intake manifold, and replacing it resolved the problem, restoring smooth operation.

Vacuum leaks around the car manifold? How do I check for those?

A garage would use a smoke machine to check for vacuum leaks. Given the symptoms, a leaking intake manifold due to scorching is plausible. The stored error and reduced power suggest this. It's best to get it checked professionally rather than attempting a DIY fix. I went to a workshop.

The garage confirmed the intake manifold was faulty. A replacement fixed the problem. The bill came to 1180€. The car runs smoothly now. Thanks for the advice.

I had a similar experience with my Seat Leon diesel. Jerky acceleration and a strong exhaust smell. Check for vacuum leaks around the manifold and the manifold pressure sensor. It could be a gasket leak causing engine misfire. Does the engine stall at idle?
