Seat Exeo diesel injection woes

I'm at my wit's end with my 2011 Seat Exeo diesel. It's done 135658 km and now the injection system is playing up. I'm getting shocking fuel consumption, the engine's lost a load of power, it keeps stalling at idle, and chucks out smoke when I put my foot down. Anyone else had this? Could it be a dodgy connection somewhere?

Your described symptoms certainly resonate with a previous issue I encountered on my Seat Exeo, although I drive a petrol version. Reduced engine power and stalling at idle are indicative of fuel delivery irregularities. I would pose the query: have you inspected the electrical connections to your fuel injectors? A defective connection can manifest in such a manner.

Electrical connections to the fuel injectors, eh? Is that a common thing? Where exactly should I be looking, and what am I looking for? Any chance you had the same issue with your petrol engine?

My Exeo, whilst a petrol variant, exhibited similar behavior. It was indeed a loose or corroded connector to one of the injectors. I recommend meticulously inspecting each connection, ensuring they are secure and free from corrosion. If the issue persists, a diagnostic check at a reputable workshop may be warranted to pinpoint the exact source of the malfunction.

Massive thanks for the tip. Turns out you were spot on! I checked all the connections as you said and there was a loose plug on one of the injectors. Gave it a clean, plugged it back in properly, and the car is running like a dream again. Total cost? 95€ for the diagnostic. Unbelievable! Saved me a fortune!
