Seat Exeo Diesel power loss and check engine light

I need some assistance. My 2008 Seat Exeo diesel is causing problems. It has 183739 km on the odometer. Recently, I've noticed a significant decrease in engine power, and the check engine light is illuminated. It feels like it's stuck in limp mode. I suspect the throttle valve, or perhaps the accelerator pedal module, or an electronics issue. Has anyone else encountered this? Fuel efficiency has also decreased, and the engine idle feels unstable.

That sounds unpleasant! I experienced something similar with my old Renault Megane. Check engine light, power loss... it felt like running a marathon with restricted breathing. Have you inspected the air intake? A blockage could disrupt the airflow, causing engine issues. For me, it turned out to be a faulty sensor, but the symptoms were identical.

That's interesting about the air intake. Where specifically should I look, and what type of sensor was it on your Megane? I'm trying to determine if I can inspect it myself before visiting a workshop.

It was a nuisance. On the Megane, the air intake is usually located near the front grille, but your car might differ. The sensor was part of the air flow meter. Given the rough idling, reduced fuel efficiency, and check engine light, the throttle valve seems like a likely culprit. Unless you're comfortable with automotive work, I'd recommend taking it to a shop. It could prevent further complications.

Took it to the shop. The throttle valve was indeed faulty. A replacement was installed, costing 265€. The car runs perfectly now. Thanks for the assistance!
