No, there's no aftermarket remote start or anything like that. Everything is factory standard, including the anti-theft system. What did you do to fix the immobilizer fault on your Renault? Did you try an immobilizer bypass?

I didn't try an immobilizer bypass myself, as I didn't want to risk messing anything else up with the car electronics. In my case, the key needed to be reprogrammed. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop that specializes in car electronics and security systems. They should be able to diagnose the problem properly and reprogram the key if that's the issue. They can also check for any other underlying immobilizer fault.

The shop re-flashed the key and it seems to have fixed the immobilizer fault. Cost me 45€, which is a lot better than a new ECU! Thanks again for your help!

Sounds like a potential immobilizer issue. I had something similar happen with my old Renault a few years back. The engine would start for a second and then die. Does your Exeo have any aftermarket remote start or anti-theft system installed? Sometimes those can interfere with the car electronics and cause immobilizer problems.
