Seat Exeo electrical issues

I'm having some serious electrical issues with my 2012 Seat Exeo with a gasoline engine. It has about 89122 km on it. Recently, I've been getting undervoltage warnings. The car starts poorly, and various systems seem to be failing intermittently. I've also noticed the lights are weak and flickering, and the battery seems weak when starting the engine. I suspect a heavily discharged or defective battery, but I'm not sure. Any ideas on what to check or what could be the cause of this low voltage / power supply issue? Could it be an alternator issue affecting the battery health?

I had a similar issue with my Seat Leon. It also showed low voltage warnings. Have you checked the battery voltage with a multimeter? What's the reading when the engine is off and when it's running?

I haven't checked with a multimeter yet, I don't have one. But I did use an OBD2 scanner, and it gave me a 'low voltage' error code. Also, the scanner showed the battery voltage fluctuating a lot. Could this still indicate an alternator issue or is it more likely the battery itself causing the problem?

Yeah, those fluctuating voltage readings definitely sound like a battery problem. Mine was doing the same before I replaced it. While it could theoretically be the alternator, a bad battery is way more common. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to get the battery properly tested. They can load test it and see if it's holding a charge.

Took the car to the shop, and you were spot on, the battery was heavily discharged. They replaced it, and now everything is working perfectly. The total cost was 290€, but it was worth it to have the car running smoothly again. Thanks for your help!
