Seat Exeo engine issues

I'm pulling my hair out here! My 2010 Seat Exeo with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. It's got 150244 km on the clock, and the check engine light is on. The engine feels like it's lost power, runs rough, and jerks like crazy when I try to accelerate. It even stalls sometimes when I'm idling. I'm thinking it might be the injection valve or an injector gone bad? Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2010 Seat Exeo with a gasoline engine is experiencing power loss, rough running, jerking during acceleration, and occasional stalling, with the check engine light on. The initial suspicion is a faulty injection valve or injector. A suggestion to check the oxygen sensor and spark plugs is made, but further diagnostics reveal a faulty injector as the cause. Replacing the injector resolves the issues, restoring the car's performance.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar! I had almost the same thing happen with my Exeo. Check engine light, rough idle, the whole shebang. Have you checked the oxygen sensor? A faulty one can really mess with the air-fuel ratio and cause mixture problems. Also, when were the spark plugs last changed?

Interesting! How did you figure out it was the oxygen sensor? I've read about those causing issues, but I thought it was more of a catalytic converter problem when the air-fuel ratio is off. And spark plugs... hmm, I think they were done maybe 50000 km ago?

Well, the oxygen sensor was the first thing I checked because it's a relatively cheap fix. But in my case, the mechanic said the readings were all over the place, pointing to a possible fuel delivery problem. Think of it like a dodgy tap – it's either spraying too much or not enough. Eventually, after some diagnostics, it turned out to be a faulty injector. Given your mileage and symptoms, I'd say it's worth getting the injectors properly checked. It's probably best to take it to a workshop.

Just got the car back. You were spot on! Took it to a trusted workshop, and turns out one of the injectors was indeed faulty. They replaced it, and the car is running like a dream again. Cost me 515€, but it was worth it to get rid of that awful jerking and stalling. Thanks a million for your help!
