Seat Exeo Engine Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Seat Exeo with a gasoline engine is experiencing a check engine light, power loss, rough idling, increased fuel consumption, and a whistling noise during acceleration, suggesting a potential turbo issue. The problem may be related to the wastegate valve on the turbocharger, as similar symptoms were resolved by addressing this component. It is recommended to have a professional mechanic inspect and repair the wastegate valve to restore proper engine performance.

How did you figure out it was the wastegate? Was it obvious when you checked it?

Well, I didn't diagnose it myself, to be honest. I'm no mechanic. But yeah, I experienced a whistling noise and power loss, and eventually the mechanic said it was the wastegate valve on the turbocharger. Could be worth getting it checked out by a professional. Is it worth risking further damage by trying to fix it yourself?

Just wanted to say thanks for the advice. Took it to a mechanic, and you were spot on. Wastegate valve was the culprit. Cost me 860€ to fix, but at least it's running properly again.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Exeo. Check engine light, power loss, the whole shebang. Did you check the MAP sensor or the throttle body? Those can sometimes cause similar problems.
