Seat Exeo engine problems

My 2011 Seat Exeo, gasoline engine, with 53727 km is stalling at idle, fuel consumption is higher, smoke is produced while accelerating, and the check engine light is on. I suspect the LMM is defective. Could a defective mass air flow sensor cause these issues?

I had something similar happen with my Seat Leon. Symptoms sound very close. Has your fuel economy taken a hit? It could be a sensor failure messing with the air intake and the air-fuel ratio. I'd check that sensor!

When you say 'sensor failure', are you referring to the mass air flow sensor specifically?

Yes, that's what I meant. In my case, the Mass Air Flow sensor was faulty. The car was almost undriveable with the performance decline. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, I suggest taking it to a workshop.

I appreciate the insight. Replacing the mass air flow meter resolved the issues. The total cost was 365€.
