Seat Exeo Key Battery Issue

I am experiencing an issue with my 2008 Seat Exeo (gasoline engine). I'm getting a 'key battery low' warning, and the keyless access has stopped functioning. Furthermore, I'm having trouble unlocking and locking the car. An error is also stored in the error memory. I'm suspecting the key battery is the culprit, but I wanted to get a second opinion before I proceed with a battery replacement for the car key.

Hey there! I had a similar problem with my Exeo, although I can't remember the exact mileage at the time. Keyless entry stopped working, and I got that annoying 'key battery low' message. It's almost certainly the fob battery. Have you tried replacing it yet? It's a common issue. Just curious, does the spare key work properly?

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't replaced the battery yet. I was hoping it was something else, to be honest. So, you're saying a simple battery replacement solved the issue for you? And yes, the spare key works fine.

Yeah, it sounds exactly like what happened to me. Since the spare key works, it pretty much confirms the battery in your primary car key is dead. You could try replacing it yourself, but honestly, I'd just go to a shop. They will replace the auto key battery and clear the error code. Plus, they should know how to properly open the key fob without damaging it. It's a small price to pay for peace of mind, you know?

Great news, it was indeed the key battery. A simple battery replacement did the trick, and everything is working perfectly again. Cost me 37€ at the shop. Thanks a lot for your help!
