Seat Exeo misfires and rough running

My 2009 Seat Exeo with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. I'm getting combustion misfires, rough engine running, check engine light, jerking when accelerating, and reduced power. I suspect a fuel injector issue. Has anyone else experienced this?

Rough idle and check engine light? Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Exeo. Was it throwing any specific cylinder misfire codes? Did you check your spark plugs?

Yeah, it's throwing a cylinder misfire code. Specifically P0301. I haven't checked the spark plugs yet, is it a common issue?

P0301 points to cylinder 1 misfire, not 3, but that's beside the point. Spark plugs are always a good first check, but honestly, with those symptoms it could very well be a fuel injector. Are you equipped to test the fuel injectors? Or do you have the equipment to check cylinder compression? Maybe it's time to visit a workshop?

Turned out to be a defective fuel injector on cylinder 3. I replaced all four injectors and spark plugs while they were at it. Cost 515€, but the car is running smoothly again.
