Seat Exeo Start Stop Problem

My 2013 Seat Exeo with a gasoline engine is giving me grief with the start-stop system. The engine shuts off as it should at idle, but sometimes it doesn't automatically restart. Plus, there's a warning light on the speedometer and an error stored in the memory. I'm suspecting a heavily discharged or defective battery. Anyone else had this issue?

I had something similar happen with my Exeo. The start-stop system just quit, and the eco light was constantly on. Did you check the battery voltage? Also, does the starter motor sound weak when it's trying to do the automatic restart?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the battery voltage myself, but the error memory did mention something about low voltage. When the engine shuts off at a red light, sometimes it struggles a bit to restart, almost like the starter motor is hesitant. Is that what you experienced?

Yeah, the hesitant starter motor is exactly what I experienced. I messed around with it for a bit, checking fuses and connections, but honestly, I'm not that confident with electrics. In the end, I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the battery causing the problems with the start-stop system and the eco mode. Save yourself the headache and get the battery checked professionally.

It was the battery. Replacement cost 290€. Start-stop system is working again. Thanks for the advice!
