Seat Exeo System Readiness Issue

I'm having a perplexing issue regarding my 2010 Seat Exeo, equipped with a gasoline engine. I am encountering a situation where the system readiness check is incomplete. This is evidenced by an error stored in the error memory and a corresponding error message displayed in the speedometer. My suspicion is that this stems from a recent readout via OBD2 diagnostics. I've inspected the exhaust system, but found nothing obvious. I'm aware that the onboard diagnostics need to run certain tests, but am unsure of the procedure. Could this be just an incomplete OBD readiness, and if so, what is the procedure to reset the check engine light?

Summary of the thread

The issue with the 2010 Seat Exeo involved an incomplete system readiness check, indicated by an error message and stored error memory. The problem was suspected to be related to a recent OBD2 diagnostic readout. The solution was to allow the OBD readiness monitors to complete their drive cycle, which resolved the issue without any actual faults or need for mechanical intervention.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I've had something similar with my Exeo. The check engine light came on after an OBD scan. I'm no expert, but it might just need some driving to reset itself. Have you tried that?

Interesting. When you say 'some driving,' could you be more specific? What sort of driving conditions are we talking about? I've read a bit about OBD readiness and drive cycles, and it seems quite particular. Any insights on that, or was it just a case of driving normally until the error cleared?

Yeah, it was a while ago, but I think it was related to the OBD readiness. Honestly, I didn't do anything special. I just drove it for a few days, and the light eventually went off. I remember being worried about the exhaust system at the time. If it doesn't clear after a week, maybe it's worth getting it checked, just in case. Better safe than sorry, right?

The issue is now resolved. It seems the OBD readiness monitors simply needed to complete their drive cycle after the diagnostic scan. No actual fault existed. Thanks for the insight; it saved me a trip to the mechanic and potentially unnecessary work!
