Seat Formentor diesel engine errors

My 2021 Seat Formentor with a diesel engine is throwing up some errors. Mileage is sitting at 126841 km. The preheating lamp isn't switching off, engine check light is on, and I'm getting some smoke on acceleration. Suspect it's the glow control unit, possibly a bad cable or plug. Has anyone seen this before?

That's a concerning set of symptoms. Have you checked the glow plugs themselves? A faulty glow plug can sometimes cause similar issues before the control unit is flagged as defective.

I haven't checked the plugs individually, no. Is there a straightforward way to test them without pulling them all?

While there are methods using a multimeter to test resistance, it might be tricky without proper tools or experience. Given the smoke, a defective control unit seems plausible, especially if it's affecting multiple glow plugs. It might be best to get it properly diagnosed at a workshop to confirm before replacing parts. Stalling could become an issue.
