Seat Formentor Diesel Engine Running Rough

I have a 2022 Seat Formentor with a diesel engine and 81432 km. The engine is running rough, and the check engine light is on. The error memory indicates a need to 'reset quantity drift compensation'. I suspect a potential defect within an injection valve or injector. Could this be plausibly correlated with defective car sensors? The symptoms are reminiscent of a miscalibration in the fuel economy system, potentially stemming from inaccurate data relayed by the car sensors. I welcome any insights you may possess regarding system reset procedures and potential diagnostic avenues to explore.

I experienced something similar in my Formentor. Rough running engine and the check engine light were the key indicators. Have you checked your airflow sensors? Sometimes a faulty reading there can throw off the whole compensation adjustment.

Interesting. When you had the issue, did the diagnostic error specifically mention 'reset quantity drift compensation,' or was it a more general engine fault code? I'm trying to understand if the airflow sensors could directly trigger this specific error, or if it's more likely the injector itself.

Yes, the error code was similar, pointing towards a compensation adjustment issue. I spent ages looking at it myself but eventually gave in and took it to a workshop. They confirmed the injector was at fault. Save yourself the headache and get it checked by a professional. It's like trying to fix a watch with a hammer – you might get lucky, but you're more likely to break something.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions. After taking it to the workshop, the diagnosis pointed to a faulty injector. Following the replacement and a system reset, the engine runs smoothly again. The total damage was 515€, but at least the Formentor is back on the road.
