Seat Formentor Engine Issues

I am experiencing an issue with my 2021 Seat Formentor with a gasoline engine. At present, the vehicle has accrued 67442 km. The primary symptom is poor starting, coupled with engine stalls at idle. Furthermore, the check engine light is illuminated. I suspect a defective camshaft sensor, potentially due to a faulty encoder wheel on the camshafts. Has anyone encountered similar issues? I have read about engine misfire problems in similar situations. I am trying to narrow down possible causes and would like to avoid unnecessary expenses. What are your thoughts on this matter?

I had a similar issue with my Formentor. Check engine light came on, and the engine was misfiring like crazy. Have you tried sensor testing? It could be a faulty sensor causing the engine control unit to act up.

Thanks for the quick response. When you say 'sensor testing', what exactly do you mean? Did you perform the test yourself, or did you take it to a professional? Also, did you experience rough idling or stalling?

I didn't do the sensor testing myself; I'm not that experienced. I took it to a workshop. Yes, I had rough idling and stalling. The check engine light was on constantly. They ran diagnostics and confirmed the sensor failure. I would suggest getting it checked professionally to confirm the issue.

The issue was the camshaft sensor. The garage confirmed the encoder wheel on the camshafts was defective, leading to the sensor failure. The total repair cost came to 695€. Thanks for the input; it helped me narrow down the problem and prepare for the diagnosis.
