Seat Formentor Hybrid NOx Sensor Issue

My Seat Formentor hybrid is throwing a check engine light, and the error memory indicates a problem with the NOx sensor. I am also getting a faint smell of exhaust fumes. Could this be a faulty nitrogen oxide sensor? The error message mentions something about the cable or plug connection being defective. I want to check it out myself before going to the repair shop.

I had a similar thing happen with my Seat Ateca, same engine type. The check engine light came on, and the error code pointed to the nitrogen oxide sensor. Have you checked the sensor's wiring and connector? Sometimes a loose connection can trigger a false error. It might be worth a look before replacing the sensor itself. What error code are you getting?

Thanks for the reply. I did a quick visual inspection of the wiring, but nothing obvious jumped out. How exactly did you check the connector? Did you need any special tools?

I didn't do it myself, to be honest. I took it to the workshop. They mentioned that the connectors on these emission sensors can sometimes corrode or come loose, causing a bad reading and messing with the air-fuel ratio. Maybe take it to a shop to have it checked.

Took it to the workshop. It was a defective plug connection on the NOx sensor, as suspected. They sorted it for 95€. Thanks for the pointer!
