Seat Formentor Hybrid Power Steering Issue

Alright, gearheads, I've got a head-scratcher. My 2023 Seat Formentor (hybrid engine, 129130 km) is throwing a fit with its power steering. The steering wheel is vibrating like crazy, handling feels spongy, and the error memory is lit up. Feels like the power steering is failing intermittently, requiring serious muscle to turn the wheel. My gut says it's a defective cable or plug connection on the component. Anyone else run into this gremlin?

Whoa, sounds gnarly! A vibrating steering wheel isn't fun. Have you checked the basics, like the power steering fluid level? Also, any chance it could be a dodgy connection somewhere in the steering system's electricals? Seen that happen before, causing weird power steering issues.

Electricals, huh? Where should I be looking specifically? I'm decent with a multimeter, but the steering column area looks like a rat's nest of wires. Any particular connectors or harnesses that are prone to failure?

Yeah, those connectors can be real demons. Given the symptoms and the error code, I'd wager you're on the right track. Check the harness and connectors leading to the steering pump and the steering column. If you find a loose or corroded connection, that's likely your culprit. If you are not comfortable doing this, take it to a workshop.

Dude, appreciate the input! I poked around a bit, checked the usual suspects, and turns out you were spot on. It was a dodgy connector on the steering pump harness. Cleaned it up, reconnected it, and boom, power steering is back! Cost me 95€ for the diagnostic, but at least it wasn't a full steering system replacement. Cheers!
